Corbett safari price at a glance

The Jim Corbett safari price depends on three things: the type of safari (jeep, canter or elephant), your nationality (Indian or foreign national) and the zone. Jeep safaris are priced per vehicle, so a full jeep of six works out far cheaper per head than a couple sharing one. Canter seats are priced per person.

Jeep safari cost in Jim Corbett

A jeep (Gypsy) safari is the most flexible way to explore Bijrani, Jhirna, Dhela, Durga Devi, Garjia, Phato and Sitabani. One open 4×4 carries up to six adults and two children aged 5–12, plus the driver and a registered guide.

What the jeep price includes

  • Zone permit and entry fee
  • Registered 4×4 Gypsy with driver
  • Taxes

What it usually does not include

  • Naturalist / guide fee (paid at the gate)
  • Camera fees for professional equipment
  • Hotel pickup beyond Ramnagar town

Per-person maths: at about ₹6,500 per jeep, six Indian adults pay roughly ₹1,083 each, while a couple pays about ₹3,250 each for the same jeep. Travelling as two? Ask us about sharing a jeep with another small group on the same permit date.

Dhikala canter safari price

Day visitors can enter the Dhikala zone only on the forest department’s shared canter, a 16-seat open bus that leaves from the CTR reception in Ramnagar. Seats cost about ₹2,200 – ₹2,600 for Indians and ₹4,500 – ₹5,500 for foreign nationals. The fare includes the zone permit and a CTR guide on board.

It is the cheapest way to see Corbett’s most famous grassland. See the Dhikala canter safari guide for the route and how booking works.

Elephant safari price

Elephant rides cost roughly ₹500 – ₹1,500 per Indian visitor and ₹1,500 – ₹3,000 per foreign visitor, with about four riders per elephant for 1–2 hours.

Inside the tiger reserve, elephant rides are usually offered only to guests staying at the Bijrani and Dhikala forest rest houses, are paid on the spot and depend on elephants being available. Outside the core, rides in the buffer forests around Ramnagar can be arranged in advance.

Extra charges to budget for

ItemUnitApprox. cost
Early gate entry / late exitper jeep₹1,000 – ₹1,500
Ramnagar station or hotel pickupper jeep₹400 – ₹800
Naturalist guide (mandatory, paid at the gate)per shift₹500 – ₹1,000

Professional cameras with long lenses and video equipment for commercial filming can attract separate fees set by the park. Personal phones and normal cameras are fine.

How to keep your safari cost down

  • Fill the jeep: the price is per vehicle, so six people pay the same as two.
  • Choose weekdays and avoid long weekends, when last-minute jeeps cost more.
  • Try the Dhikala canter for the core-zone experience at a per-seat price.
  • Book early: permits open about 45 days ahead for Indians and 90 days for foreign nationals, and prime zones sell out.
  • Combine safari, stay and transfer in one package instead of booking each part separately.
