Cancellation and refund policy

What you get back if you cancel or change a Corbett safari, stay, package or cab, how to cancel and how long refunds take.

How our cancellation policy works

This cancellation and refund policy is effective from 24 September 2026 and applies to bookings confirmed on or after that date. It forms part of our terms and conditions.

A Corbett trip is made up of services from different suppliers, and each has its own rules. The official safari permit, for example, is governed by Corbett Tiger Reserve (CTR), while a resort sets its own policy. So the amount you get back depends on which component you cancel and how many days before arrival you tell us. Your quote and booking confirmation always repeat the policy that applies to your booking; if they differ from this page, the confirmation wins.

“Days before arrival” are counted from the day we receive your written cancellation to the first date of the service (check-in, safari or pickup date).

Cancellation charges by component

Cancellation charges by booking component
ComponentIf you cancelIf the supplier or park cancels
CTR safari permitsjeep / canterNon-refundable once issued, as per CTR rules. Any service fee is non-refundable once the permit is issued. If CTR closes a zone or cancels a shift, any refund follows CTR’s own process and timeline; we pass on the full amount CTR returns.
Forest rest housesDhikala, Bijrani etc.As per CTR’s cancellation rules at the time of booking (usually a large deduction, and nothing close to the date).Refund as per CTR’s process.
Hotels and resortsAs per each property’s policy, stated in your quote. Typical default below.Full refund of the amount paid for that stay, or a comparable alternative if you prefer.
Tour packagesScale below. Non-refundable permit costs are always deducted.Full refund of undelivered services, or an alternative.
CabsFree up to 24 hours before pickup; after that, a charge applies (below).Full refund, or a replacement vehicle.

Hotels and resorts: typical default

Each partner property sets its own policy, and some peak-date, festival or special-rate bookings are fully non-refundable. Where a property uses a standard policy, it usually looks like this:

Typical hotel cancellation scale
Notice before check-inCharge
21 days or moreNo charge (processing fee may apply)
7–20 daysAbout 50% of the stay value
Less than 7 days or no-show100% of the stay value

For stays over Christmas–New Year, Diwali, Holi and long weekends, expect stricter terms. Early check-out is treated as a cancellation of the unused nights.

Tour packages

Tour package cancellation charges
Notice before arrivalCharge
30 days or moreFull refund, minus non-refundable safari permit costs and a processing fee of ₹500 per booking
15–29 days25% of the package price, plus non-refundable permit costs
7–14 days50% of the package price, plus non-refundable permit costs
Less than 7 days or no-showNo refund

Unused parts of a package (a missed safari, a skipped meal or a shortened stay) are not refundable once the trip has started.

Cabs

  • 24 hours or more before pickup: free cancellation; any advance is refunded in full.
  • Less than 24 hours before pickup: the advance paid, up to 25% of the fare, is kept to pay the driver who has been reserved for you.
  • No-show (driver waits 60 minutes at the pickup point and cannot reach you): 100% of the advance, and the driver’s actual running costs if they have already travelled to you.
  • Waiting time, extra kilometres, tolls, parking and state taxes on the day are payable as per your quote.

How to cancel

  1. Send a written cancellation by WhatsApp to +91 99999 99999 or by email to hello@jimcorbett.org.
  2. Include your booking reference (for example JC-260924-AB12), the lead traveller’s name and which part of the booking you want to cancel.
  3. We confirm the cancellation and the refund amount in writing, usually within one working day. The time of your message, not our reply, counts for the notice period.

Phone calls alone are not enough; please always follow up in writing.

Refund timelines

  • Refunds for services we control (our service fee, cabs and most package elements) are processed within 7–10 working days of the cancellation being confirmed.
  • Refunds that depend on a hotel or CTR are paid within 7–10 working days of us receiving the money from them. CTR refunds follow the park’s own process and can take several weeks.
  • Refunds go to the original payment method. If that is not possible (for example, a closed UPI account), we will ask you for alternative details in writing.
  • Bank and payment-gateway charges already deducted by third parties may not be recoverable.

Changing your dates instead

Often a date change is better than a cancellation. We are happy to try:

  • Hotels, packages and cabs: one free date change if requested at least 15 days before arrival and the new dates are within six months, subject to availability. Any difference in rates is payable or refundable.
  • Safari permits: CTR permits cannot be moved to new dates. A new permit must be booked and paid for, subject to availability.
  • Changes requested within 15 days are treated as a cancellation and new booking, unless the supplier agrees otherwise.
  • Adding guests is subject to availability; removing guests may count as a partial cancellation.

If we or the park cancel

If we have to cancel a service for a reason within our control, you get a full refund of the amount paid for it. If CTR or a supplier cancels for reasons outside anyone’s control (floods, zone closures, VIP movement or government orders), we will offer alternatives first and otherwise pass on whatever refund the supplier gives. See force majeure in our terms.
